Over time, mortar deteriorates and very small hairline cracks may develop in your chimney structure. If left unattended, perpetual damage to both the exterior and interior of your home could occur.

In the winter, unwanted moisture congregating within these hairline cracks or penetrating through a crack in the top crown of the chimney will freeze resulting in bricks exploding, spalling or flaking. When these deteriorated conditions exist, a simple repair of tuckpointing may not suffice so don’t be fooled. Your chimney may need to be rebuilt!

Relining your chimney becomes necessary when a preponderance of evidence points to relining.

Age-old chimneys were not designed for venting today’s high efficiency furnaces, which emit excessive moisture through the chimney flue.

A chimney may look fine on the outside; however, a good look on the inside of your chimney may reveal something more frightening.

Excessive moisture from your heating appliance condenses on the walls of your chimney, leeching onto old acid-laden brick that has eroded over the years. The aftermath of this erosion could lead to interior ceiling damage or exterior brick damage, complete flue blockage and possibly carbon monoxide poisoning to the home’s occupants.

Installing a new, seamless, high quality stainless steel liner, custom fit to your chimney, is a great alternative to rebuilding your current chimney and clay flue.
